A Leader with a Kids-First Attitude
While I was teaching at Taylors Falls Elementary School, I worked with Sarah Aadland as a parent of a third grader and a parent volunteer.
I first met Sarah and Joe when they attended the “Open House” for their daughter Maya as she was to be in my third grade classroom. Maya had sent me a letter prior to the open house inquiring about “What to expect in her third grade year?” She was truly inspired by parents who were invested in their child's education and encouraged her to be invested also.
Through that year and the years following, Sarah continued to be part of not only her children’s education but also that of others in the Taylors Falls Elementary, Through her volunteer work, book groups and through a Kindness Club that engaged and empowered students to show care and compassion not only in school but also in the community.
After attending the candidate forum last week, it became evident that the passion and conviction for kids, families and community that she demonstrated in her volunteer work has carried over to her work as a member of the Chisago Lakes School Board.
Sarah has worked hard to develop her skills as a board member by attending as many training sessions as were offered. She was clear and concise in answering the questions that were posed prior to the forum, and those that were presented by the community members in attendance. She has worked to be a decision maker that takes into account all stakeholders, and uses the resources of the district in an efficient manner.
And, she does this all with a “Kid First” attitude.
